Ajax land Zinchenko as Arsenal cut short Forest loan arrangement
The 29-year-old defender had been on loan at Nottingham Forest since September, but Arsenal have now allowed him to join Ajax permanently. His contract with the Amsterdam club will run until June, though no details regarding a transfer fee have been disclosed by either party.
Zinchenko brings significant Premier League experience to Ajax, having played 91 times across three seasons with Arsenal since joining in July 2022. The Ukraine international also has previous Eredivisie experience, having spent the 2016/17 season on loan at PSV while contracted to Manchester City.
Ajax’s director of football, Marijn Beuker, believes the signing will provide an immediate impact for the club’s European ambitions. He stated that Zinchenko would give the Amsterdam side “an immediate quality boost in the pursuit of Champions League football.”
Beuker praised the defender’s tactical attributes and suitability to Ajax’s playing philosophy. “As a left-back, he is tactically strong, provides defensive stability and fits perfectly with our way of playing,” the director added when confirming the signing.
