Arsenal have submitted a significant £87m offer for Real Madrid’s Arda Guler as they prioritise attacking reinforcements, with the Spanish giants now forced to seriously consider the Turkish star’s future at the Bernabeu. According to Football365.com.
Arsenal’s £87m Guler gambit puts Real Madrid in difficult position
Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Arsenal have lodged an offer worth 100 million euros (around £87m) for Guler as they appear prepared to pull out all the stops to lure him away from Real Madrid. The London club has been closely monitoring Guler’s progress for months, believing his profile perfectly fits their developing style of play.
Real Madrid are aware of the interest and are not ignoring Arsenal’s approach. While Guler remains a highly valued player within the Spanish club, they acknowledge that a £87m offer would force them to seriously reconsider his future at the Bernabeu, according to the report.
Arsenal’s pursuit comes after continued struggles in front of goal this season, despite heavy summer investment including Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. The Gunners spent £250m in the summer transfer window but most of their key players have underperformed in attack.
The club believes Guler can be a game-changer in their definitive leap to the European elite. Arsenal fell short in the Premier League title race for a third consecutive year last season, hampered by being toothless in attack and heavily impacted by injuries throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have secured the future of 16-year-old Max Dowman, who has committed by signing a pre-contract agreement that will lead to professional terms when he turns 17 in December. The academy prospect joins Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes among recent contract extensions at the Emirates.
