Arsenal have reportedly submitted a staggering €105m (£92m) offer for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, a move that could seriously undermine Barcelona’s hopes of securing the Argentine forward this summer. According to Football365.com.

Arsenal’s £92m Alvarez bid threatens to derail Barcelona’s transfer strategy

Spanish reports suggest Arsenal’s substantial financial proposal for the 26-year-old striker has introduced a new dynamic to the summer transfer market. Alvarez has impressed at Atletico Madrid this season, contributing 13 goals and five assists across all competitions for the La Liga side.

The magnitude of Arsenal’s offer creates significant complications for Barcelona’s pursuit of their reported primary target. According to Spanish media, the English club’s financial backing allows them to propose deals that challenge Barcelona’s economic constraints, particularly given the Catalan club’s ongoing salary cap restrictions and budget limitations.

Arsenal’s interest in additional striking options comes despite Viktor Gyokeres’ recent improvement in form. The Swedish forward delivered his most complete performance of the season in Arsenal’s 4-1 North London Derby victory over Tottenham, scoring twice to help extend their Premier League lead over Manchester City to five points.

Gyokeres has accumulated 15 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions this season, though Arsenal remain keen to strengthen their attacking options. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have both struggled with injury problems this term, highlighting the need for additional depth in forward positions.

The Spanish report emphasizes that Arsenal’s proposal not only appeals to Atletico Madrid financially but also strategically, as the Spanish club would prefer avoiding strengthening a domestic rival. Any subsequent negotiations for Alvarez will now begin from an extremely high valuation, creating additional pressure on Barcelona’s already stretched finances.
