Atletico add PSG’s Goncalo Ramos to shortlist as attack plans take shape
Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez continues to be linked with an exit, with Barcelona, Chelsea and most recently Arsenal among the clubs mentioned alongside the Argentina forward. Los Rojiblancos are looking at a major addition to their attack in the summer, according to a report referenced by Marca.
The Madrid daily said Atletico sporting director Mateu Alemany is working on attacking additions for the coming summer, with uncertainty over the futures of Antoine Griezmann, Alexander Sorloth and Alvarez. Griezmann may decide to call time on his career at the top level with offers from Major League Soccer, while Sorloth has said he is keen to stay at the club. Atletico are expected to do what they can to keep Alvarez, who is under contract until 2030, though the consistent links with a move away will concern the club.
Marca also reported that Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal striker Goncalo Ramos is on Atletico’s shortlist for a summer move. Ramos is highly regarded at the Metropolitano, and the report said Alemany is aware he will need to begin convincing the player soon if Atletico are to put together a deal in the summer.
Ramos has 10 goals and an assist in 28 appearances this season, but has logged just over 1,000 minutes. He has started 10 of those matches and has not made a Champions League start, with the report noting PSG’s depth in attack has left him playing a secondary role. Ramos, 24, may be attracted by the offer of more regular football, and his contract is said to run until 2028.
