The teenage winger arrives at Coventry following a productive first half of the season on loan at Portsmouth, where he scored three goals in 16 appearances for the League One side. Yang previously gained Championship experience during a loan spell at Queens Park Rangers in the second half of last term, contributing two goals in 14 appearances for the west London club.
Yang joins the Sky Blues as they sit six points clear at the top of the Championship table in their bid to return to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years. The South Korea international, who has been capped twice by his country, expressed his excitement about the move and praised the positive atmosphere he experienced when facing Coventry as an opponent.
Speaking to the club website, Yang revealed that manager Frank Lampard’s clear tactical vision convinced him to join Coventry. “The head coach explained very clearly how he plans to use me and how I could fit into the team, which gave me a lot of confidence that this is the right place for me,” the winger said. He added that Lampard’s detailed explanation of his role provided reassurance about his decision to move to the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The 19-year-old emphasized his determination to contribute immediately to Coventry’s promotion push, stating his intention to adapt quickly and demonstrate his qualities on the pitch. “I want to help the team achieve its goal and to do that, I need to adapt as quickly as possible, show my qualities on the pitch, and prove why I am here,” Yang explained, highlighting his commitment to supporting the club’s Premier League ambitions.
