Crystal Palace are in increasingly advanced talks to sign 19-year-old forward Sidiki Cherif from French club Angers, though all parties involved insist no agreement has yet been found for the France youth international who is under contract until 2028.
Crystal Palace Hold Advanced Talks With Angers Over Sidiki Cherif Transfer
The Guinea-born forward is capable of playing as a striker or on the left wing and has impressed in Ligue 1 this season with four goals in 17 top-flight matches. Cherif’s performances have helped Angers steer well clear of the relegation places, with the club currently sitting in 10th position in the French league table.
Palace have already strengthened their attacking options this month by signing forward Brennan Johnson from Tottenham for £35 million but continue to look to improve the squad. Manager Oliver Glasner has been critical of the lack of squad depth available to him at Selhurst Park this season, indicating the club’s desire to add further reinforcements.
The potential signing of Cherif would provide Glasner with additional versatility in attack, given the teenager’s ability to operate across multiple forward positions. The France youth international’s contract situation at Angers, which runs until 2028, means any deal would likely require a significant transfer fee for Palace to secure his services.
