Galatasaray Drop Interest In Inter Milan’s Frattesi

Turkish champions Galatasaray have abandoned their pursuit of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi after balking at his €40 million price tag, according to reports from Turkey. The Super Lig holders had emerged as frontrunners for the Italy international but have now withdrawn from negotiations despite sending emissaries to Italy.

Galatasaray Withdraw From €40 Million Pursuit of Inter Milan Midfielder Frattesi

Galatasaray have pulled out of their pursuit of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi after deciding his €40 million valuation was too expensive, according to Turkish outlet Akit. The reigning Super Lig champions had recently emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign the 26-year-old Italy international, overtaking Juventus largely due to Inter’s preference to sell the player to a foreign club rather than a domestic rival.

The Turkish giants sent representatives to Italy to negotiate a potential transfer for the former Sassuolo midfielder, with manager Okan Buruk publicly praising Frattesi’s qualities. However, despite their initial interest and the player’s limited role at San Siro, Galatasaray have decided to focus their attention on alternative targets rather than meet Inter’s asking price for the fringe player.

Frattesi’s situation at Inter Milan remains problematic, with the midfielder struggling for regular playing time under manager Cristian Chivu this season. The Italy international has made only four competitive starts across all competitions, including just one appearance in Serie A, highlighting his peripheral role in the squad despite his significant transfer value.

The midfielder may now face an extended period at San Siro despite his desire for more regular football elsewhere. However, with Hakan Calhanoglu facing a month-long injury absence, Frattesi could potentially use this opportunity to demonstrate his worth to Chivu and force his way back into the manager’s first-team plans during the Turkish midfielder’s rehabilitation period.
