Genoa Push for Roma’s Pisilli Loan Deal in January

Genoa are intensifying their pursuit of Roma midfielder Niccolò Pisilli ahead of the January transfer window, with the Serie A club pushing both the Giallorossi and the player’s entourage for a loan deal despite Roma’s reluctance to lose the promising 20-year-old permanently.

Genoa Intensify January Pursuit of Roma Midfielder Niccolò Pisilli

The 2004-born midfielder has managed just 47 minutes of Serie A action this season, prompting natural discussions about his future as the January transfer window approaches. Genoa have emerged as the most interested club and are actively pursuing both Roma and Pisilli’s representatives, according to Corriere dello Sport, as they seek to secure the young Italian’s services.

Pisilli received praise from Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini recently, though this recognition may not be sufficient to guarantee him regular playing time at Roma. The midfielder’s limited opportunities have made a temporary move increasingly attractive, with former Roma coach Daniele De Rossi having previously shown faith in Pisilli by selecting him for his first start against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in September 2024.

The situation could be resolved within the next two weeks, with December 29th representing a significant date when Genoa visit the Olimpico to face Roma in their final match of 2025. This fixture will mark De Rossi’s return to the capital as an opponent and could provide the perfect opportunity for both clubs to discuss Pisilli’s future in greater detail.

Roma have made their position clear regarding any potential deal, stating that Pisilli is not considered surplus to requirements and they have no intention of selling him permanently. The club favours a loan arrangement that would allow the midfielder to develop and gain valuable playing time while maintaining control over his long-term future, particularly given that Pisilli renewed his contract just a few months ago and Roma intend to monitor his progress closely.
