Genoa Target Roma’s Pisilli for January Loan Move

Genoa are intensifying their pursuit of Roma midfielder Niccolò Pisilli ahead of the January transfer window, with the Serie A club pushing both the Giallorossi and the player’s representatives for a loan deal after the 20-year-old has managed only 47 minutes of league action this season.

Genoa Intensify Pursuit of Roma Midfielder Pisilli for January Loan Deal

The 2004-born midfielder has struggled for playing time under current management, leading to natural discussions about his future as the January transfer window approaches. According to Corriere dello Sport, Genoa are the team most interested in securing Pisilli’s services and are actively pursuing both Roma and the player’s entourage to complete a temporary move that would provide regular first-team opportunities.

The situation could be resolved within the next two weeks, with December 29th emerging as a significant date when Genoa visit the Olimpico to face Roma in their final match of 2025. The fixture will mark Daniele De Rossi’s return to the capital as an opponent, and it presents the perfect opportunity for both clubs to discuss Pisilli’s future in more detail during face-to-face negotiations.

Roma maintain a clear stance that Pisilli is not considered surplus to requirements and have no intention of selling him permanently. The club’s preference is for a loan arrangement that would allow the midfielder to develop and gain valuable playing time while retaining control over his long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico.

The midfielder recently renewed his contract just a few months ago, demonstrating Roma’s commitment to his development, and the club intends to continue monitoring his progress closely. De Rossi, during his time as Roma coach, specifically selected Pisilli for his first start in September 2024 at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus, showing the faith placed in the young player’s abilities despite his current lack of opportunities.
