Inter Milan have reignited their interest in Atletico Madrid wingback Nahuel Molina as they explore winter reinforcement options, while maintaining their dream of signing Atalanta-owned Marco Palestra despite the substantial €40 million price tag attached to the Italian prospect.
Inter Milan Rekindle Interest in Atletico Madrid Wingback Nahuel Molina
The Nerazzurri have identified the 27-year-old Argentine as a potential January signing according to reports from Tuttosport, with the Serie A giants seeking defensive reinforcements during the winter transfer window. However, persuading Atletico Madrid to sanction a sale could prove challenging given Diego Simeone’s continued faith in the player despite limited starting opportunities this season.
Molina has made just six La Liga starts during the current campaign but has still collected 19 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, demonstrating Simeone’s trust in his abilities. The Argentine wingback remains an integral part of Atletico Madrid’s project under the experienced manager, which could complicate any potential transfer negotiations with Inter Milan.
Marco Palestra continues to represent Inter’s primary target, with the 20-year-old Italian currently on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta. The young defender is considered the Nerazzurri’s dream signing, but Atalanta’s substantial €40 million valuation makes any deal financially challenging. Inter cannot pursue Palestra until the summer transfer window due to his current loan arrangement.
Fiorentina’s Dodo has emerged as another potential option for the San Siro giants, though this transfer is also described as a complicated operation. Inter could potentially use Stefan de Vrij or Kristjan Asllani as makeweights in any deal for the Brazilian wingback, providing alternative solutions to their defensive requirements during the current transfer window.
