Juventus are reportedly in advanced talks over a sensational summer transfer for former AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez, who moved to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal at the start of the 2025-26 season under ex-Inter manager Simone Inzaghi but is already considering a return to European football.
Juventus Hold Advanced Talks Over Summer Move for Al-Hilal’s Theo Hernandez
The French defender left Milan after six seasons at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, joining Al-Hilal in a deal worth approximately €20 million plus bonuses. Hernandez is reportedly earning around €20-25 million per season on his current contract in Riyadh, having moved to the Saudi Pro League following the expiration of his San Siro deal.
According to various reports in Italy originating from Carlo Pellegatti, Juventus have opened advanced discussions with Hernandez over a potential summer transfer rather than a January move. The Bianconeri had previously been linked with the 28-year-old at various stages during the 2024-25 season before his eventual move to Saudi Arabia under Inzaghi’s guidance.
Hernandez revealed his reluctance to leave Serie A in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport before Christmas, claiming Milan had threatened to freeze him out if he remained for the final year of his contract. “I deserved better treatment,” the left-back stated, suggesting he never truly wanted to depart Italian football despite the lucrative offer from Al-Hilal.
Any potential deal would require Hernandez to significantly reduce his current wages, estimated between €20-25 million per season, to make a return to Serie A financially viable for Juventus. The transfer fee remains unclear, though Al-Hilal would likely seek to recoup their initial €20 million investment plus bonuses paid to secure his services from Milan last summer.
