Liverpool among clubs tracking Crystal Palace’s £65m-rated Adam Wharton
Liverpool are leading the chase for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, with several top clubs monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation, according to a report. TEAMtalk said Palace are open to selling Wharton at the end of the season, but only for a significant price that is expected to start at £65 million before add-ons.
Wharton has risen quickly since joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in February 2024. Signed for around £18 million, the England youth international has become a dependable figure in Palace’s midfield and is viewed as one of the most coveted young players in English football, the report said.
Clubs value Wharton’s versatility, with TEAMtalk describing him as capable of operating as a deep-lying playmaker and a ball-winning midfielder. His style has been compared in the report to Declan Rice and Rodri, qualities seen as suited to the tactical demands at the top end of the Premier League.
Liverpool’s interest has been framed as part of the club’s continued search for long-term midfield reinforcements. The report noted Liverpool have invested heavily in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai but remain keen to add another technically polished, young midfielder who can anchor the side for years.
Liverpool are not alone in the pursuit. TEAMtalk reported Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle United are also tracking Wharton, while Palace believe their position is strengthened by the midfielder being on a long-term contract and considered important to the team’s structure, enabling them to push for a premium fee.
