Liverpool are preparing contingency plans for a possible Andy Robertson exit, with Tottenham having made a concrete move for the veteran left-back and the player reportedly open to the switch. Journalist Ben Jacobs reported Liverpool intend to approach Roma to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan, despite the absence of a formal recall clause. Sources close to Tsimikas say he wants to return to Anfield.

Liverpool ready Roma talks to recall Tsimikas amid Robertson-Tottenham move

Liverpool may already have identified the internal solution to replace Andy Robertson as Tottenham close in on a move for the Scotland international. In a developing story, Spurs have made what was described as a concrete approach for Robertson, with the player reportedly keen on a fresh challenge in north London.

With Robertson’s potential departure set to leave a notable hole in Arne Slot’s squad, Liverpool are lining up a familiar option at left-back. Kostas Tsimikas is currently on loan at AS Roma, and Liverpool are preparing to contact the Serie A club to try to end that spell immediately, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Jacobs reported the plan comes with a key complication because no formal recall clause was included in the loan agreement with Roma. That means Liverpool would need Roma’s cooperation to cut the deal short. However, sources close to Tsimikas have indicated the player wants to return to Anfield and take on the role of first-choice left-back, which could help any negotiations.

Jacobs wrote on X that Liverpool will move to recall Tsimikas if Robertson completes the switch to Tottenham, adding that Robertson has told Liverpool he is keen on the move. The report also noted Robertson’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with Liverpool looking to cash in rather than risk losing him for free in the summer.

The story added that Milos Kerkez’s arrival in the summer has reduced Robertson to a squad role, a factor cited in Robertson’s interest in the Tottenham move. Liverpool’s consideration of a swift Tsimikas recall would prioritise continuity and experience rather than moving immediately for a new replacement in the transfer market.
