Liverpool will have to delay any move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande until the summer after the German club ruled out a January sale, according to The Independent. The 19-year-old has emerged as a standout in the Bundesliga, and Leipzig’s sporting director Rouven Schröder has reportedly deemed him “non-negotiable” until June. Arsenal and Manchester United are also tracking him.
Liverpool’s January plan for Leipzig winger Diomande blocked until summer
Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande has been halted for the remainder of the January window, with RB Leipzig making clear the teenager is not for sale mid-season, according to The Independent. Diomande, 19, has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s breakout performers, forcing interested clubs to look toward a potential summer deal instead.
Leipzig’s position is that any discussion over a transfer will only take place after the current campaign. Sources around the club said sporting director Rouven Schröder views Diomande as “non-negotiable” until June, with Leipzig preferring to sell key players only when they can arrange replacements. The report added that Leipzig have told interested clubs a move will not be considered in January.
Diomande’s form has driven the growing interest. The Ivorian winger has scored six goals and added two assists in the Bundesliga this season despite his age and limited top-flight experience. He has already been discussed as a potential next elite attacker to emerge from German football, with the report noting the league’s recent record of producing leading talents.
Liverpool’s interest was described as concrete, with the club planning a major squad refresh in the summer and a wide attacker high on the shopping list. The report cited uncertainty around Mohamed Salah’s long-term future, adding that Salah’s relationship with manager Arne Slot has reportedly faced tension after recent disagreements. Liverpool scouts have reportedly watched Diomande more than a dozen times since the start of the season.
Liverpool are not the only Premier League club monitoring the situation. Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be tracking Diomande and are expected to register their interest when the summer window opens, with Leipzig maintaining their stance that a deal will not be entertained before then.
