The report said United want to reshape the centre of the pitch with younger, more dynamic options amid what it described as ongoing inconsistency in midfield. Casado has joined a growing list of players linked with the club, with United also associated with Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, Carlos Baleba of Brighton and João Gomes of Wolves.
Casado has found chances limited at Barcelona, playing 634 minutes of La Liga action this season.
