Manchester United are reportedly considering Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as a permanent signing amid fresh doubts over Harry Maguire’s future at Old Trafford, with Serie A clubs Napoli, Inter and Fiorentina all showing interest in the England international centre-back.
United Target Forest’s Murillo While Maguire Attracts Serie A Interest
Maguire has fought his way back into Ruben Amorim’s reckoning at Manchester United but uncertainty remains over his long-term future at the club. The defender has attracted attention from multiple Italian clubs, with Napoli, Inter Milan and Fiorentina all considering moves for the experienced centre-back during the January transfer window.
United are exploring permanent options to strengthen their defensive options, with Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian defender Murillo emerging as a potential target. The club are assessing their defensive requirements as they consider potential departures and look to build for the future under Amorim’s management.
The transfer speculation comes as United also evaluate their midfield options, with reports suggesting Napoli would be interested in a loan move for Kobbie Mainoo. However, much may depend on whether the young midfielder is restored to United’s first-team plans and becomes a regular fixture in Amorim’s starting lineup.
United are also reportedly monitoring Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba as a long-term project, having shown interest in the player during the summer transfer window. Baleba has recently returned to Brighton following the Africa Cup of Nations and remains on United’s radar as they plan future squad developments.
