Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is set to complete a £20 million move to Manchester City after agreeing personal terms with the Premier League champions, with the England international scheduled to undergo his medical examination on Sunday as the transfer reaches its final stages.

The 25-year-old centre-back has already finalised personal terms with City, who initiated discussions with Guehi this month following defensive injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias. The Palace captain was out of contract this summer and had previously been close to joining Liverpool during the previous transfer window before that move collapsed.

Guehi captained Crystal Palace to their first major trophy in the club’s history with victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. The defender has been linked with several of Europe’s top clubs throughout his career at Selhurst Park, where he has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent centre-backs.

The Chelsea academy graduate has made 188 appearances for Palace since joining from Swansea City in 2020, with 33 of those coming this season as the South London club participated in their first Europa Conference League campaign. His potential departure is believed to have influenced Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s decision to announce on Friday that he will leave the club at the end of the current season.

Manchester City have already strengthened their squad this month with the £62.5 million signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Guehi’s arrival would provide Pep Guardiola with additional defensive options as City continue their pursuit of major honours across multiple competitions during the second half of the season.
