Mike Maignan Close to Signing Five-Year AC Milan Contract Extension Worth €5.7M Annually
The former PSG Academy product has entered the final months of the five-year deal he signed in 2021 when he joined Milan following his Ligue 1 title success with Lille OSC. Maignan impressed in his debut season in Lombardy and played a vital part in Milan’s Serie A title triumph in 2022, establishing himself as a key figure for the Rossoneri.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper also became France’s undisputed number one following Hugo Lloris’ retirement in early 2023. Maignan’s contractual situation had attracted interest from Chelsea, but it appears that “Magic Mike” will remain at the San Siro rather than pursue a move to the Premier League.
Di Marzio reports that AC Milan are closer than ever to reaching an agreement regarding Maignan’s contract extension. The Rossoneri have proposed the French international a salary of €5.7 million per year as part of their efforts to secure his long-term future at the club.
Further contract discussions are expected to take place between Maignan and the Serie A giants in the coming days. The goalkeeper is expected to put pen to paper on the five-year contract extension, which would keep him at Milan until 2031 and represent a significant investment in the club’s future.
