Milan are weighing up a late January deal for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as they look to finalise their defensive options before the window closes. A report said the Rossoneri are hoping for a last-minute opening from Liverpool for the 28-year-old, a long-standing target who appeals to coach Massimiliano Allegri for his versatility and experience.

Milan Consider Deadline-Period Approach for Liverpool Defender Joe Gomez

Milan are considering a late move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as they work to settle their defensive plans before the January transfer window shuts. According to reporter Daniele Longo, the Rossoneri are still hoping Liverpool could offer a last-minute opportunity to sign the 28-year-old Englishman in the final days of the month.

Gomez is described as a player profile that strongly appeals to Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri, and the report said the club’s interest is not new. Milan previously tried to bring Gomez to the San Siro during the summer transfer window, but no deal was completed at that time.

The club’s effort to add a dependable defensive reinforcement has also included other options. Technical director Igli Tare explored several avenues, with Federico Gatti among the names considered by Milan’s leadership, but the Italy international reportedly has shown no desire to leave Juventus in the middle of the season.

Radu Dragusin was also offered to Milan, according to the report, but the club have chosen not to pursue the Tottenham defender for now. That has left Gomez as a primary focus, with any potential deal dependent on Liverpool’s willingness to approve a departure before the month ends.
