Milan and goalkeeper Mike Maignan remain deadlocked in contract renewal negotiations with a €3 million per season gap between the player’s salary demands and the club’s current offer, according to reports in Italy. The Frenchman’s current deal expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Milan and Maignan Deadlocked Over €3 Million Gap in Contract Renewal Talks

Milan have been in talks over a potential renewal for Maignan for several months but have not been able to make any significant steps towards an extension. Without a renewal, the 30-year-old remains at risk of leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season. According to updates from Claudio Raimondi on SportMediaset XXL, there is currently a gap of around €3 million per season in wages between Maignan’s demands and Milan’s current proposal.

Maignan is reportedly seeking a salary in the region of €8 million per season, which would make him the best-paid goalkeeper in Serie A by some distance and would place him among the league’s highest earners overall. The French international’s wage demands reflect his status as one of Europe’s premier goalkeepers following his performances since joining Milan from Lille in 2021.

Milan are currently stuck at an offer of €5 million per season in wages and according to updates from Milannews.it, are unlikely to raise their proposal any further. The Rossoneri’s position suggests they have reached their financial limit for the goalkeeper’s contract, creating an impasse in negotiations that could force Maignan to consider his options elsewhere.

Several clubs across Europe have reportedly expressed interest in Maignan, including Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. The interest from these major European clubs provides Maignan with potential alternatives should contract talks with Milan continue to stall, particularly with the goalkeeper able to negotiate with foreign clubs from January onwards given his contract situation.
