Nottingham Forest have entered the race to sign Tammy Abraham from Besiktas, with the club indicating they can meet the striker’s personal terms demands. However, the former Chelsea forward’s first preference remains a move to Aston Villa, who are also pursuing the 28-year-old England international this January.

Nottingham Forest Challenge Aston Villa for Tammy Abraham Transfer From Besiktas

Abraham has emerged as a key target for Premier League clubs after scoring 13 goals in 25 appearances for Turkish giants Besiktas this season. The striker joined the Istanbul club on loan in the summer following previous spells at AC Milan and AS Roma, where he netted 27 goals across all competitions during his debut 2021/22 campaign before struggling with form and an ACL injury.

Aston Villa appeared to be leading the race for Abraham’s signature as they seek a replacement for Donyell Malen, who completed a move to AS Roma this month. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Thursday that Abraham has opened doors to an Aston Villa move, stating that personal terms are not an issue between the player and his former loan club, though no agreement has been reached with Besiktas.

Turkish reporter Ertan Suzgun revealed that Nottingham Forest have now joined the pursuit and are prepared to meet Abraham’s personal terms demands. However, the striker’s preference remains clear, with Suzgun stating that Abraham’s first choice for a possible return to England is his former club Aston Villa, where he previously spent time on loan during his Chelsea development.

Villa manager Unai Emery remained coy about transfer business when speaking on Friday, focusing instead on upcoming fixtures while acknowledging the club’s activity following Malen’s departure. Emery described allowing Malen to leave as a tough but sensible decision, explaining that while he preferred the player to stay, it represented good business for both the club and player, with Villa now actively working on potential deals to strengthen their squad.
