Fulham have secured Norway winger Oscar Bobb from Manchester City in a £27m deal that includes significant future protection for the selling club. The 22-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Craven Cottage and will wear the number 14 shirt. According to Bbc.com.
Fulham complete £27m Bobb signing as City secure future protection clauses
City have retained a 20% sell-on clause alongside matching rights for any future bids received by Fulham, demonstrating their strategic approach to player sales. The protective measures mirror City’s recent re-signing of goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley after matching Newcastle’s accepted bid during the summer transfer window.
Bobb’s departure follows his reduced role at the Etihad Stadium after City’s January acquisition of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed the winger’s desire to leave when asked directly about the situation, stating “I think so” regarding Bobb’s transfer intentions following Saturday’s victory over Wolves.
The Norway international consulted compatriot Sander Berge before finalising his Craven Cottage move, with the midfielder providing crucial insight into the club’s culture. “I spoke to Sander, my good friend, and I spoke to the manager, and he explained what the system’s like, and how the lads are, and how the club is,” Bobb explained.
Fulham’s timing proves astute given their strong recent form, having lost only one of their last seven Premier League games under Silva. The Cottagers currently sit seventh in the table following their 2-1 victory over Brighton, positioning themselves well for potential European qualification with Bobb’s attacking reinforcement.
The Manchester City academy graduate brings 47 senior appearances to West London, contributing three goals and four assists across all competitions. However, his 2024-25 campaign has been disrupted by injury setbacks, including missing almost the entire previous season after fracturing a bone in his leg during August 2024 training.
