Scanlon secures Swindon loan after outstanding youth performances
The move comes after Scanlon delivered outstanding performances for United’s Under-21s, most notably scoring a superb hat-trick against Sporting in a recent Premier League International Cup fixture. He also found the net earlier in the competition against Athletic Club and scored in a National League Cup tie at Rochdale in October.
Swindon Town are currently challenging for promotion to League One under manager Ian Holloway, with their next fixture being a midweek away game against Harrogate Town. The loan represents the next step in Scanlon’s development after impressing at youth level for United.
Despite his young age, the forward brings considerable international experience to his new club. Scanlon has amassed 20 caps for Gibraltar, scoring twice for his country, which should provide valuable preparation for the challenges of senior league football with the Robins.
The temporary move allows Scanlon to experience regular senior football while Swindon benefit from acquiring a promising young talent during their promotion push. United’s Academy graduate will look to translate his impressive youth performances into consistent displays in League Two competition.
