Aston Villa have intensified their pursuit of Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham by presenting a creative player-plus-cash proposal that includes French forward Evann Guessand as part of the deal to secure the England international’s return to Villa Park this January.

According to reports from Turkiye Gazetesi, the Premier League club have offered 24-year-old Evann Guessand as a makeweight in their bid to sign Abraham, who has a €30 million release clause at the Turkish giants. The proposal represents a strategic move to lower the financial burden of meeting Abraham’s full release fee while providing Besiktas with a suitable replacement.
Guessand joined Villa from OGC Nice in summer 2025 but has struggled for consistent form in the Premier League, recording two goals and one assist in 19 appearances this season. The versatile Ivory Coast international can operate as a centre-forward or across either wing, making him an attractive proposition for Besiktas manager Sergen Yalcın, who reportedly wants a replacement before sanctioning Abraham’s departure.
Abraham has become a focal point for Besiktas since his move from Roma, scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances this season. The 24-year-old previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Villa Park during the 2018-19 campaign, netting 26 goals to help fire the club back to the Premier League. Unai Emery has identified Abraham as a top priority to bolster his attacking options for the second half of the season.
Villa currently sit third in the Premier League table, level on points with Manchester City and within touching distance of leaders Arsenal. The addition of Abraham would provide vital competition and cover for Ollie Watkins as Villa look to sustain their momentum in what the report describes as an improbable title charge.
While Besiktas initially demanded the full release fee, the inclusion of Guessand as a high-potential replacement could prove to be the breakthrough needed to finalise the transfer.
