Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr is facing intense transfer speculation regarding a possible move to the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ahli is reportedly preparing a record bid of approximately €350 million ($407 million), aiming to make him the highest-paid player in football history. While ongoing negotiations for a contract renewal with Real Madrid have stalled, the club views Vinicius as essential to their future. The implications of this situation for his career and league reputation are significant. Further developments reveal more.

Vinicius Jr, a prominent attacking player for Real Madrid, currently finds himself at the center of intense speculation regarding a potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ahli, a club in the league, has emerged as the primary suitor for the Brazilian talent. They have reportedly prepared a world-record bid of approximately €350 million, equivalent to $407 million, for his services this summer.

Additionally, the club is willing to offer Vinicius a staggering total of €1 billion over a five-year contract, which would position him as the highest-paid player in football history.

Vinicius Jr’s present contract with Real Madrid extends until 2027. However, negotiations regarding a renewal are ongoing and currently stalled. Real Madrid’s offer is close to his existing salary of around €17 million per year after tax, which Vinicius considers insufficient. Madrid began negotiations for a contract renewal in February 2025, a move indicating their interest in keeping him long-term.

He reportedly desires a deal that would place him atop the club’s salary structure. However, the club remains hesitant to accommodate these demands, creating a notable disconnect.

Despite the interest from Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid views Vinicius as non-transferable, reflecting both strategic and sporting priorities. Previous discussions between Saudi officials and Vinicius’s representatives began in early 2024 but have not progressed since December of that year, especially following the resignation of prominent Saudi Pro League decision-maker Saad Al Lazeez in March 2025.

Although Real Madrid initiated formal renewal talks in February 2025, Saudi strategies indicate they might still challenge the club’s resolve with offers beneath his substantial release clause. As part of their ambitious plans to enhance global appeal, the Saudi Pro League aims to secure high-profile signings like Vinicius.

The outcome of these negotiations bears significant implications for both Vinicius’s career path and the changing reputation of the Saudi Pro League within global football.
