Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Savinho will be sidelined for up to two months after suffering an injury during Manchester City’s nil-all draw with Sunderland last week. The Brazilian winger joins a lengthy injury list that includes Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic.

Guardiola Confirms Savinho Faces Two-Month Injury Layoff After Sunderland Draw

Savinho sustained the injury during the early stages of the second half of Manchester City’s goalless draw with Sunderland at The Stadium of Light a week ago. The Brazilian international has subsequently missed City’s past two matches against Chelsea and Brighton, with no previous update provided on the extent of his injury or expected recovery timeline.

Guardiola provided the update following his team’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, revealing the severity of Savinho’s condition. When asked about the winger’s injury and how long he would be ruled out for, Guardiola said: “Long. I don’t know. A month and a half, two months. He will be back.”

The injury adds to Manchester City’s mounting fitness problems, with several key players already sidelined for significant periods. Mateo Kovacic remains out after undergoing a second round of surgery on an Achilles issue, while Josko Gvardiol will likely miss the remainder of this season due to a fractured tibial bone in his right leg.

Ruben Dias is currently out for between four to six weeks with a hamstring injury, and John Stones is ruled out for an indefinite period due to injury. Guardiola acknowledged the stretched nature of his squad but insisted there is no time for the team to feel sorry for themselves with fixtures continuing without a break.

Despite the injury crisis, Guardiola emphasised that his side must continue moving forward with the available players. The City manager stressed that dwelling on unavailable personnel will not help the team secure victories after three consecutive draws across all competitions.
