Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has become the latest Premier League player to have his house burgled. His fiancée, Britney De Villiers, disclosed the break-in on Instagram and urged others to be careful, noting that nobody in the family was at home when the property was targeted. Gibbs-White becomes latest player burgled as fiancée urges vigilance
De Villiers, a South African model and influencer, described the experience as “unsettling and horrible”. Neither she nor Gibbs-White was at home, and their two young children were also away, so nobody in the family was in danger. She nonetheless admitted the incident had left her feeling violated.
In remarks carried by the Daily Mail, De Villiers said she had not intended to share the news publicly but felt it was important to warn others after hearing of another burglary since. She urged people to keep security systems switched on whether they are at home or not, and to report anything suspicious. Material things, she added, can be replaced.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was also reportedly targeted in a separate incident less than a week earlier. Three masked intruders reportedly broke into the Portuguese midfielder’s £4 million mansion while he was in Italy, playing in United’s 4-1 defeat against Como.
It is unclear whether the burglary at Gibbs-White’s home happened while Forest were playing Ipswich Town in their Premier League meeting on Friday. That match ended 1-1, extending Forest’s winless streak to four Premier League games. Oliver Glasner, who joined this summer on a reported £13 million-per-year contract, has had a difficult start at the City Ground.
