Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle says he has sensed how committed the club are to him, after a booed 1-0 home defeat by Everton left the team 13th in the top flight. He insists his players remain united ahead of Saturday’s trip to Fulham. According to Bbc.com.

Jaissle draws comfort from Newcastle’s backing as pressure builds

The reassurance arrives at a difficult moment. The Magpies were jeered at the final whistle of Monday’s defeat by Everton, a result that left them 13th in the top flight with 11 points from nine games. The home supporters’ reaction underlined how quickly the mood has soured on Tyneside.

That loss followed Newcastle’s exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Everton in their previous match. The club have just two wins from the past seven matches, a sequence that includes defeats by Leeds United, Coventry City and Aston Villa.

Asked whether he has felt pressure on his position, 38-year-old Jaissle, who succeeded Eddie Howe in the summer, said he tries not to follow what is written, though some comments reach him. Internal support, he said, mattered during a week of speculation, calling it “good to know, good to feel” before adding that he is trying not to be distracted.

Jaissle had said after the Everton defeat, in his post-match news conference, that his players had not followed the plan. Ahead of the Fulham game, which kicks off at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, he said he believes they are united and clear about his ideas.

He described “unity and togetherness” as the foundation the team can currently rely on. Jaissle also said the relationship within the group is already strong and that his door remains open to anyone unsure of his instructions. From what he sees in training, he is pretty sure everyone understands and is fully committed.
